Wood colors and grains

The following wood samples were photographed under daylight conditions. The pieces were placed on a Gray Card with 18% reflectivity. On many photos the gray background has a color tint because I adjusted the wood color in Photoshop Elements 4 so that its presentation on the monitor resembles most closely the actual sample when held next to the monitor. The comparison took place under the same daylight condition that the photos were taken in. These pictures should therefore be viewed under daylight conditions for greatest accuracy. Each square covers an area of about 7" x 7".

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself
but what has drawn your attention
in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums
